windows

every window tells a story

Artist Statement

In January 2025, I moved to New York. Despite being constantly surrounded by people, living in a city as big as Manhattan can feel isolating and overwhelming. Lost in the vastness of the city, I often found myself wandering the streets, drawn to the windows and balconies of the buildings around me.

For some reason, I felt like they were calling me, inviting me to see and imagine a life completely different from my own. Even if you can’t see inside them, the choice of decoration (or lack thereof) is enough for us to imagine who that other person might be.

From a genuine curiosity, for the sake of keeping my creativity afloat, (and a little bit of boredom), I started to wonder. Walking by the windows, I got lost in my own thoughts, imagining what the life of that person might be; sometimes, even creating mini narratives. All of that just to escape from the madness of “real life,” even if only for a few minutes.

Deep inside, we all have this, almost, voyeuristic side to us; that makes us want to just observe. These photographs explore the individual stories on the other side of those windows. Treating people’s choice of leaving their curtains open as an invitation into their lives, I was able to catch a glimpse of them. As well as giving equal importance to the way their spaces were decorated, I captured the story present in each one of those windows.
